This Sunday June 18th at 2pm EST we will be speaking with Rob Olver, the editor of PositiveLite.com, Canada’s online HIV magazine. After meeting Robert at #HealtheVoices17 and hearing his story during Purposeful Connections. I knew I had to invite him to join me on air one week. - Listen here
Here is a little about Robert in his own words.
“Pre-diagnosis, I was an education worker with an alternative life in experimental music.” he says. “I was diagnosed in 2014, just after my birthday and only a few days before I was to retire. It felt overwhelming initially but there’s nothing like a crisis to help you sort out what’s important. Certainly I found myself needing to revise some of my plans. But I’ve been helped and inspired by some great mentors along the way and they really helped me to hit the ground running once I was diagnosed. I went straight into advocacy work, mostly via PositiveLite.com.
PositiveLite.com exemplifies these values and is entirely run by and for people living with HIV. I love the level of commitment and passion of the people I’m working with and it’s been a huge honor for me to take over the reins as editor of PositiveLite.com. So now that I’m retired, I’m busier than ever. It may sound crazy, but I celebrate my diagnosis each year, just like my birthday and I like my life better post-diagnosis than I did before.”
